Is Chewing Gum a Good Bad Breath Treatment?

If people are offering you gum everywhere you turn, you probably have considered the possibility that this is their tactful way of telling you that you have bad breath. If this is the case, you likely do want to take that minty piece of gum and start chewing away. Sure, minty gum will offer you a quick fix for your bad breath by masking the odor with a fresh, minty smell; however, chewing gum is also a great bad breath treatment that you will want to consider putting to use every day.

So just how does chewing gum work as a bad breath treatment option? When you chew gum, two things happen. First, the saliva in your mouth increases, and this works to keep bacterial growth that can cause bad odors in your mouth from occurring. Second, the gum works to scrub and clean the surfaces of your mouth as you chew it, and this keeps bacterial growth at bay, too. As you can see, there is more benefit to chewing gum than simply masking your bad breath with a fresh minty smell. With this in mind, you will find that there is indeed a benefit to chewing minty gum each and every day!
